In Praise of Small Chairs

Small, wooden chairs are fantastic. Nothing says "focused" like sitting in a corner on a small, old chair, hovering over a keyboard or notebook.
Small chairs are 1) practical, 2) humble, and 3) a good friend. As long as you can comfortably fit in one, a small chair gets the job done without taking up any more space than is necessary. They don't show off like other chairs–they leave you alone so you can work. Last of all, they welcome you back again and again, anytime you need to hunker down and focus.
A comfortable chair fits you well. It's not too soft or to hard, too big or too small, but just right–so that you don't even notice it.
It gets out of the way and lets you do your thing.
A chair such as this is not to be abused in any way.
A good chair should be paired with a good desk. This desk should not be any bigger than necessary, but not so small as to feel cramped. It should facilitate your focus.
Together, this desk and chair can do wonders for you. Use them well.
